Part of this discussion had to do with who Jesus was speaking to when he delivered it in northern Israel. But, of course you know this. And, you are definitely smart enough and studied enough to know who Jesus was speaking to.
he was talking to everyone who was there, jews and non jews. the jews understood he was saying the old testament was wrong, they probably did not like it.
